Input data

Main window consists in 3 resizable panels:  DEMAND (containing the pieces from the customer request) and REPOSITORY (containing sheets from the current stock) and Results.

DEMAND

For inserting a new sheet in DEMAND one have to press the button + (Add) in the top part of the DEMAND panel. A new row will be added and the user will be requested to introduce the following information:

Length  - specifies the length of the piece to be cut.

Width - specifies the width of the pieces to be cut. This value is important only when some extremities of the pieces to be cut have some angles different from 90 degrees. Otherwise it can be left 0.

Angle 1 - specifies the angle of one of the extremities. Angles are expressed in degrees between 0 and 180.

Angle 2 - specifies the angle of the other extremity.

Number of pieces - specifies the number of pieces of the same type.

Type - specifies the type of material.

Label - is a string of characters used for labelling the pieces. It can be empty.

One can specify whether the considered piece will be used or not in the optimization process by right clicking on it.

For deleting a piece from the DEMAND one must press the button - (Delete) from the top part of the panel DEMAND.

Data can be introduced/saved from/in files with extension .1d.

Data can also be saved/loaded to/from Excel, Word, HTML and XML files. You must have Microsoft Office installed in order to perform these operations. Office 2000 or higher is required for HTML format. Office XP or higher is required for dealing with XML files.

For sorting the DEMAND press the header of any column.

REPOSITORY

For inserting a new sheet in REPOSITORY one have to press the button + (Add) in the top side of the REPOSITORY panel. A new row will be added and the user will be requested to introduce the following information:

            Length,

            Width,

            Number of pieces,

            Type of the piece and

Price per linear unit - If the lengths are introduced in millimetres the price must be introduce per millimetre. If the lengths are introduced in meters the price also must be given per meter.

for the considered piece. One can specify whether the considered piece will be used or not in the optimization process by right clicking on it.

All pieces from REPOSITORY have the angles for extremities equal to 90 degrees. If some off cuts (pieces resulted from a previous optimization) are added to the REPOSITORY they must be shorten in order to have angles of 90 degrees at both extremities as can be seen from the picture below:

For deleting a piece from the REPOSITORY one must press the button - (Delete) from the top part of the panel REPOSITORY.

Data can also be exported to Excel and Word tables. You must have Microsoft Office installed in order to perform these operations.
